Vacant abandoned house or land wanted in The Gambia.
ABANDONED PROPERTY WANTED IN THE GAMBIA
Could your unused property become a place of benefit for the community?
Maroof Institute is a Muslim organisation seeking a genuine and legitimately available vacant property in The Gambia that could provide us with a dedicated base for our charitable work.
We are particularly interested in an empty 2–3 bedroom house or suitable standalone property that could be used as office space, a community workspace and a temporary centre for our activities. We are not looking for an apartment.
If you are aware of a property that is currently empty, unused or abandoned, and the ownership and legal status can be properly established, we would be grateful to hear from you. We are willing to discuss flexible arrangements, terms and durations, including temporary use, as we continue to establish and develop our work in The Gambia.
We are not a commercial business and are not seeking property for resale or commercial gain. We already have our own residential property here in The Gambia. What we are seeking is a separate and dedicated space from which our charitable, educational and community activities can operate.
OUR LONG-TERM VISION
One of Maroof Institute’s long-term goals is to identify and secure suitable land on which to establish a permanent local community centre in The Gambia — a place that can serve the community not simply for today, but, inshaAllah, for generations to come.
The intention is to develop a trusted community space dedicated strictly to charitable, educational, religious and community purposes. Any land and buildings established through this initiative would be reserved for the benefit of the community and would not be intended for private or commercial exploitation.
Our vision is to create a place where knowledge, faith, welfare and community service come together, supporting individuals and families through education, ethical development, charitable assistance and practical community initiatives.
Maroof Institute is committed to empowerment through education. We believe that providing people with knowledge, guidance, opportunity and support can help individuals, families and communities build stronger and more sustainable futures. Our work therefore seeks to combine educational activities with practical welfare and community support, while remaining rooted in our religious responsibilities and the promotion of goodness, compassion and service to others.
A future community centre could provide a dedicated setting for educational programmes, religious learning, research, community events, welfare initiatives, women’s and family support, charitable activities and other services that respond to genuine community needs.
We recognise that establishing such a centre is a long-term undertaking requiring land, resources, planning and the support of the wider community. For this reason, we are also open to temporary opportunities and suitable existing properties that can help us establish a foundation for our work while we work towards the larger vision.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR NOW
Ideally:
- A vacant 2–3 bedroom house
- A standalone property — no apartments
- Empty, unused or otherwise available for charitable/community use
- Suitable for office and community workspace
- Genuine ownership and legitimate authority to offer the property
- Flexible terms or duration considered
- Located in an area suitable for our developing community work
We are also interested in hearing from anyone who may know of suitable land for our longer-term community-centre vision.
Our aim is not simply to acquire a building. It is to establish a trusted and lasting place of benefit, one where education, faith, welfare and community service can continue to make a positive contribution long into the future. We would naturally maintain and develop the property, as and when finances allow.

If you know of a suitable property or land, or know someone who may be willing to discuss an arrangement with us, please get in touch with Maroof Institute, using our email below or the contact page, and help us spread the word.
An unused property can become a place of meaningful benefit to an entire community.
